12. Guest vs. Registered User Data

• Guests are only subject to minimal automatic data collection (technical/usage data, cookies) necessary to operate the Service and serve ads; no account or profile data is created.
• Registered Users additionally provide account, profile, and social data as described in Section 2.1. Deleting your account removes your profile and social data, subject to Section 8.

Please read these terms of service carefully before using crosswordteam.com (the “Service”).

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using crosswordteam.com (the “Service”), whether as a guest or a registered user, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service. If you are accessing the Service on behalf of a minor, you represent that you are their parent or legal guardian and accept these Terms on their behalf.

2. Description of Service

crosswordteam.com is an online platform offering crossword puzzle games. The Service may be accessed:

• As a Guest, without creating an account, with limited functionality; or
• As a Registered User, by creating an account, which unlocks additional features including adding friends, playing multiplayer games with in-game chat, and uploading a profile picture.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, temporarily or permanently, at any time and without notice or liability, as further described in Section 9.

3. Eligibility and Accounts

3.1. You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.

3.2. You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep your account credentials confidential. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not authorized by you.

3.3. We reserve the right to refuse registration, suspend, or terminate any account at our sole discretion, including where we suspect a breach of these Terms.

4. User Conduct

We reserve full discretion to determine what constitutes a violation of this Section.

5. User-Generated Content and Moderation

5.1. You retain ownership of content you upload (such as profile pictures and chat messages), but you grant crosswordteam.com a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, and display such content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.

5.2. Community-based moderation. The Service relies in whole or in part on reports and flags submitted by users to identify content or behavior that violates these Terms. You acknowledge and agree that:

• We do not pre-screen, and cannot guarantee the removal or timely removal of, all content that violates these Terms;
• We provide reporting tools and encourage users to flag inappropriate content or behavior;
• We may, but are under no obligation to, review, monitor, edit, or remove any content at our sole discretion, with or without notice;
• We are not responsible or liable for any content posted by users, and such content does not necessarily reflect our views.

5.3. We reserve the right to remove any content and to suspend or terminate the account of any user who violates Section 4, without prior notice and without liability to you.

6.1. The Service is provided free of charge and is funded through the display of advertisements.

6.2. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to being shown advertisements, including advertisements personalized based on your data, to the extent and in the manner permitted by applicable law (including, where applicable, any consent obtained through cookie/consent management tools).

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

We do not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; (b) any defects will be corrected; or (c) the results of using the Service will meet your expectations. You use the Service at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, crosswordteam.com, its owners, employees, affiliates, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

9.3. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed €0.00.

9.4. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud, in jurisdictions where such exclusions are unenforceable).

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, including your account, at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice, at our sole discretion. You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13 shall survive termination.

We reserve the right to modify, amend, or replace these Terms at any time, at our sole discretion, without prior notice. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date, and your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. 13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France, except where mandatory consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your own country of residence.
